PUBLIC BUDGETING LABORATORY

Information for Classroom and Workshop Purchases

"Did you ever teach budgeting? Did you ever try to construct a class that had readings coverning everthing from budgeting formats to revenue sources to accounting principles? A panoply of lifelike examples of budgeing documents? Budgeting and analysis exercises that closely simulated the real world? I have devised such a course. It wasn't easy. What I needed was Public Budgeting Laboratory."

The Public Budgeting Laboratory is a four volume set of materials designed to provide the knowledge and practical experience necessary for competence in budget preparation. Budget experience is fine-tuned through a simulated environment requiring development of a balanced budget. It is a self-contained learning package with a Workbook that provides step-by-step guides on developing a budget, a Data Sourcebook with five years of extensive revenue and expenditure records, a Budgeting anthology of practical readings on budget formulation and execution, and an Instructor's Manual with suggestions on how to conduct the laboratory in a classroom or workshop setting. The Public Budgeting Laboratory was published by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia, but the remaining inventory is available only from this web site.
